S1 E124 — No Longer a Misunderstood Genius or Child Celebrity

But, damn it, it describes me so well beginning with high school and the military and each of my 34 jobs and across several employment and consulting careers.  It might just be my super power.

The Tau of Steves: What You Don’t Know Could Fill a Book

Hi and welcome to Sunday’s Episode 124 in the first season of ” My 1-Year Natural Experiment” on this 24th day of November in the fall of 2019

Evidence

What’s been going on? Yes, it’s official I launched my  Patreon page  yesterday — at least navigated all the false starts, getting lost following set up instructions, finding my way back, getting lost again and submitting it for review after coming up with a tagline, patron support descriptions and background photo.

Now comes the hard part. “Languaging” it as a branded theme.  So many drafts followed many more drafts.  But, here’s a working synthesis:

I’m an introverted procrastinator.  I collect zip codes and other people’s horoscopes — not really stealing their birthdays, but appropriating which predictions I want to believe lie ahead for me on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

As most hackers know, zip codes provide the secret combinations to happiness for at least five lifestyles in neighborhoods and communities across this great country of ours.  They are harder to steal with a straight face.

Now is the even harder part, finding a voice.  I’m inspired by Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s “Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life,” both by her simplicity and humor and by an early passage:

I was not abused, abandoned, or locked up as a child.  My parents were not alcoholics, nor were they ever divorced or dead.  We did not live in poverty, or in misery, or in an exotic country.  I am not a misunderstood genius, a former child celebrity, or the child of a celebrity.  I am not a drug addict, sex addict, food addict, or recovered anything.  If I indeed had a past life, I have no recollection of who I was. I have not survived against all odds. I have not lived to tell. I have not witnessed the extraordinary.

I’m feeling a little time pressure now.  Emma the Baroness and I are hosting our family for Thanksgiving and while she prepares the feast and decorates I’ve got front yard and back patio chores to complete.  Those chores compete with completing my federal and state taxes.  Good luck, right?

You can tell I really don’t have a coherent description of my endeavor and how it’s possible to devote so much time and have so little to show for it, right?

“5”  Steve Zahn, 51: “People don’t understand and therefore won’t acknowledge the amount of work that goes into your endeavor.  Educate them or believe in yourself so much that their ignorance doesn’t matter.” Scorpio

Random ones that make me want change my sign.

A Researcher’s Disclaimer:  This is neither Emma the Baroness’s nor my birthday.

But, damn it, it describes me so well beginning with high school and the military and each of my 34 jobs and across several employment and consulting careers.  It might just be my super power.

Today’s Holiday Birthday:

How you fit in with so many different types of people is a marvel you’ll repeat time and time again, matching moods, blending into cultures, taking on just the right attitude to gain approval and power.  You’ll live in a beautiful bubble for a while and create from that place, recalling it for months and years after.

Wow, Steve.  I’m definitely stealing yours.  I mean, “What would Leo da V do?”

“5”  Steve McQueen (1930 – 1980): What are the others overlooking?  You get three times more creative just by asking yourself the question, and you feel five times more alive when you figure out the answer and then tend to it.”  Aries

Yo, musical icons I’m feeling your groove about obstacles.  And your Holiday Tau of alliterations — counteract current culture — but, its message strikes to the heard of my energy and frustration and avoidance experienced in 2017 when I launched WordPress websites.  Sometimes, I just had to walk away for days at a time.

“4”  Steve Winwood, 71; Stevie Wonder, 69: Anticipate obstacles.  Decide how you will counteract the current culture of distraction, as this will be a necessary first step toward the completion of any other plan.” Taurus

Wait, just what are you talking about?  Do you have any idea Steve?  Scandal? Bitterness? I could use a minute of distraction.

“3”  Steve Smith, 30: The sweets of flattery and the bitterness of scandal are unnecessary distractions you don’t need to taste today.  The only news worth spreading is news that can help.” Gemini

Do Jeffersonville, Indiana or Ann Arbor, Michigan or Lillehammer, Norway or Florence, Italy count?  No, just the attitude? Got it.

“4”  Steve Greene, 34; Steve Guttenberg, 61:Wherever you go, arrive as a tourist; it’s the heightened awareness that helps you see it differently.  From this observational mindset, everything appears new, interesting and delightful.”  Virgo

And finally we come to Mr. Aoki who just seems to receive a high volume of Holiday Tau.  What are you offering today? I’m sure you and others will find relevancy, but I’m going to skip it today.  But, thanks.

“3”  Steve Aoki, 41: Those who are cloaked in the all-too-common disguise of ‘someone who has it all figured out’ are only hiding from their own development.  Learning requires exposure.” Sagittarius
