S1 E111 — Is There Half-life of Wisdom?

Have we reached a point where old husband’s tales and bits of wisdom passed down through the generations and absorbed by each younger generation no longer prepare you for a successful life?

The Tau of Steves: What You Don’t Know Could Fill a Book

Hi and welcome to Thursday’s Episode 111 in the first season of ” My 1-Year Natural Experiment” on this 31st day of October in the fall of 2019, and Day  Five of Scorpio Time

Evidence

I was looking around without finding what I wanted when I had to ask myself why hasn’t this book been written?

So I decided to write it myself.

They always say to write about something you know.  I didn’t want this to be all about me, which it actually is, but this is something I’m incredibly curious about.

Over time do we become our name — do people react to your name in mostly the same way?

Is that different than how they respond to my name?

What’s in a name, anyway?

A certain wish, a certain hope, a certain sacred naming event new parents take seriously.

How does it, or did it play out?

Mothers … I’m looking at you!

And sisters and brothers, you too.

Don’t forget those dating and falling in love with Steves — romance leading to merging what was once two single dreams into a common, single dream of a life together.

How did you see the world then?

How did you see yourself then?

Their opinions might trigger responses from their Steves. Could be the inside view of what it’s like to be a Steve with a Friends of Steves — FOS — outside view starting everything off.

Here’s what they say about Steves … how do you feel about it?

 Is this you?

Do we all have this in common?  Or, now that you’re experienced …

“What’s the thing you like about yourself today?  You’re allowed to think it.  You’re even allowed to say it, to yourself or anyone who will listen.”

What’s the Holiday Tau say about this passion project?

Wait, it’s my birthday on Day  Five of Scorpio Time, and I can’t believe that, “If this your birthday … ” sucked so much it wasn’t worth mentioning.

Hmm.  I see where you’re going with our Holiday Tau, but like my birthday diss, I’m passing on Zahn’s hoping a TauBit of Wisdom will surface among the remaining Steves.

“3”  Steve Zahn, 51: “TRICK: The more public you are about what you need and want, the more likely you’ll be to get it.  TREAT: The admiration of your peers.” Scorpio

Random ones that make me want change my sign.

Right.  McQueen’s Holiday Tau is quite brilliant. I’m normally such an introvert that my self-confidence when it comes to writing weakens.

“5”  Steve McQueen (1930 – 1980): TRICK:  Make the decision.  All the uncomfortable energy that comes with worry, doubt and uncertainty will melt away. TREAT: Confidence resumes.” Aries

The Holiday Tau for Colbert and the two musical icons stimulates a question I’ve been mulling over — what is the half-life of wisdom?

Have we reached a point where old husband’s tales and bits of wisdom passed down through the generations and absorbed by each younger generation no longer prepare you for a successful life?

“5”  Steve Winwood, 71; Stevie Wonder, 69; Stephen Colbert, 56: TRICK:  Those who are much older or younger than you will teach you something you can immediately put to use. TREAT: Hugs and laughter coming your way.” Taurus

I learned Smith’s Holiday Tau the hard way in high stakes employment interviews when I really, really needed a job.  And, I really, really hoped they wouldn’t ask about my weaknesses — which almost always was the first question out of the employment managers lips after scanning my resume for 7 seconds.

My Trick?  Prepare a three-part answer with a quick 5 second answer, followed by a 10 second one in a little more detail and finally if they persisted followed by a 30 second war story.

“5”  Steve Smith, 30: TRICK:  The last thing you thought would happen will be the first thing that does. TREAT: You’ll understand a loved one’s beautiful intentions.” Gemini

Oh, sure I get it.  I’m just not in the market for this one on my birthday.  Oops excuse me there goes the ding dong at the front door.

“2”  Steve Kerr, 54:TRICK:  You ask for help to involve people and understand their talents. TREAT: You’ll be surprised by what people want to contribute to your life.” Libra

Do you really think so?  Or is it just my mask?

“2”  Steve Aoki, 41: TRICK:  You can’t help but be a little mysterious. TREAT: You’ll have a rapt audience.” Sagittarius
