The Dream Was Over, Long Live the Dream

The Tau of Steves: What You Don’t Know Could Fill a Book

“5”  Steve Smith, 30:If wisdom were a needle in a haystack, you’d find it.  Precious insights could come from anywhere.” Gemini

Across from me in my office as I sit on my futon, brown with black triangles, in the lower white drawer sits a box of spiral-bound steno journals.

I’ve been off the air as my friend Dave used to say traveling back in time guided by my felt tipped pen on lined paper.

Of all my passion projects this one feels the most like a memoir in the making — but with slight twist.

Anyway, on today, May 26th, and very nearly every other day this week leading up to Memorial Day and, of course the wedding anniversary of Emma the Baroness and me I’ve time traveled.

What grabbed me was two dreams I forgot about, but had the presence of mind to record the very next morning decades ago.

“The dream was over — but in my diary I recorded the following coincidence:

‘Later, making the bed … about 7:30 am Emma the Baroness, having covered up her breasts with her pink bra (for teaching) stood on the opposite side of the bead.”

‘I had this dream,’ I said, it was about …’

‘Me too,’ she interrupted, ‘I was …’

‘… about to catch a plane and was on an airstrip?’

… I was at an airport too, going to Europe with my parents — we were living on Stern Avenue, and I forgot a few things and had to get them … we were late.’”

“5”  Steve Zahn, 51: “Self-doubt is the enemy of imagination.  Trust and lean further into your creativity.  Agree with and build on the goodness there.” Scorpio

Random ones that make me want change my sign.

May I steal your Holiday Tau?  How did I find that dream coincidence stuck in one of 36 journals I hadn’t read for eons since the box had been sitting on a shelf in our two car garage all these years?

What about you two, G&G?  This memoir-like search for wisdom feels lofty.  I aspire to the second part of your Holiday Tau.

“5”  Steve Greene, 34; Steve Guttenberg, 61: You have a lofty goal, yet it is within the realm of possibility.  You’re ready to get honest about what’s working and what’s not.” Libra

Last two.  I realize you could say I was greedy.  Isn’t that what a life of crime will do for you?  We can do this one of two ways.  The hard way or the easy way. Either way I want your Holiday Tau.

“5”  Steve Aoki, 41: “Some say all you really own in this life is yourself.  Even that can seem reductive or, when actions get away from you, a stretch.” Sagittarius

Say what?

“4”  Steve Jobs, (1955 – 2011): “Some people have a short attention span for what doesn’t pertain to them.  Aim your stories accordingly.” Pisces
