S1 E84 — Crisis averted?  Energy depleted?  What are we going to do?

The Tau of Steves: What You Don’t Know Could Fill a Book

Crisis averted?  Energy depleted?  What are we going to do?

Evidence

Hi and welcome to Thursday’s Episode 84 in the first season of ” My 1-Year Experiment” on this 29th day of August in the summer of 2019.

As Emma the Baroness and I prepared to leave on our Norwegian vacation, it dawns on me that I have to leave each of my passion projects in such a way that I can pick up where I left off when we return from our two week vacation.

Our anniversary Italian vacation made it easier to prepare for how to track expenses and take and convert notes and photos into a journal of memories. By being prepared we can reserve more energy to tackle any last minute issues.

“5”  Steve Zahn, 51: “Looking for answers in the familiar places will bring you common, acceptable solutions.  Unusual problems require unusual solutions found in strange places.” Scorpio

Random ones that make me want change my sign.

I guess you could say, and you wouldn’t be wrong that McQueen’s Holiday Tau describes in greater detail what Emma the Baroness and I spent more time doing.

“5”  Steve McQueen (1930 – 1980): “Start ticking things off your to-do list.  It will bring so much satisfaction to organize your thoughts this way.” Aries

If you’re saying today’s task is really a set of tasks to prepare for our Norwegian vacation using checklists and expense tracking strategies that proved very useful in Italy, then yes I have to agree with Jobs’ Holiday Tau.

“5”  Steve Jobs, (1955 – 2011): “While the naturally logical thinkers may have an advantage with today’s task, those who think differently will get there with a little more effort.” Pisces

Well, yeah.  I mean, who wouldn’t agree?

“2”  Steve Winwood, 71; Stevie Wonder, 69; Stephen Colbert, 56: “A long stretch of the same activity over and over will kill your enthusiasm.  So keep changing it up today.” Taurus

Makes sense, but I’m not sure how it applies today.

“2”  Steve Smith, 30: “To counteract the unpredictable nature of motivation, set up your own encouragement instead of expecting it to drop in.” Gemini

And, yes, who can argue?

“2”  Steve Howey, 42: “Wanting a thing over and over, deeply and with great willingness to do quite a lot to bring it into reality — that’s the sort of wanting that makes things happen.” Cancer

So, this too makes sense.  Like a child swinging on a jungle gym ladder from rung to rung overhead.  You can’t make progress as you reach out for the next rung, if you don’t release the one in your other hand so you can swing it forward to grab the next rung in sequence.

“4”  Steve Carell, 57; Steve Martin, 74; Steve Wozniak, 69: “Giving something up is hard, but it’s made easier when you do it at the same time as starting something else new to take its place.” Leo

Maybe GG&K’s Holiday Tau makes a case for smaller cuts and and letting go over time.

“3”  Steve Greene, 34; Steve Guttenberg, 61; Stephen King, 72: “You can’t just get rid of all the unnecessary things at one, but you’ll be amazed at what a few cuts will do.” Virgo

Sure, G&G’s Tau extends to me most of the time.  Maybe with two meanings — with how all of my passion projects could be characterized as dimensions of the same thing, life, and literally going someplace like, I don’t know, maybe Norway?

“4”  Steve Greene, 34; Steve Guttenberg, 61: “You’ve a stellar sense of direction now and it extends in many areas of life.  Of course, what good is knowing where to go unless you actually go?” Libra

So, should I take Nash’s Holiday Tau as in opposition to dropping a project while taking on another which is hard?  Maybe nudge it along instead”

“3”  Steve Nash, 45: “Nudge things into being more of what you want and less of what you don’t.  What can you do to make the process more pleasant?” Aquarius
